Apples

Leading producer of apples in the USA. Apple orchards covers hundreds of square miles in Wenatchee, Yakima, and other areas of eastern Washington. Blossoms appears around the first of May.

Wheat

1.8 million acres of wheat on rolling hills in southeast Washington from Pullman to Walla Walla to Ritzville. Wheat is green May – June. Mid-July to August the wheat turns gold. The further west fields ripen earlier.

Vast acreage near Sunnyside and Grandview in eastern part of state. Some vineyards on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound and Stretch Island near Shelton. Number two wine producer in USA, with country’s largest continuous vineyard in Walla Walla County. Largest winery is Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville.

Tulips

Located 62 miles north of Seattle, Mount Vernon is the city where thousands of people come to view world famous tulip fields each spring. Tulips, bulbs, and daffodils are shipped to markets all over the USA. Puyallup, 30 miles south of Seattle, is also known for its tulip and daffodil production, and has a Daffodil Festival every April.
