

Washington state has many diverse and picturesque bridges. Here
is a sampling:
Megler-Astoria Bridge

This scenic five-mile long bridge crosses the Columbia River
and connects Washington and Oregon near the coast.
Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Has a main span of 2,800 feet. It crosses Puget
Sound between the cities of Tacoma and Gig Harbor. It was
nicknamed "Galloping Gertie" after its dramatic undulating
break during a 1940 storm.
Deception Pass Bridge

Located south of Anacortes. This spectacular bridge
connects Fidalgo Island with Whidbey Island. Many
commercials have been filmed here. Not available Memorial
Day through Labor Day.
Floating Bridges

Washington is famous for bridges that are built on floating
concrete pontoons. The Mercer Island Bridge (I-90) crosses
Lake Washington east/west connecting Seattle to Mercer
Island and Bellevue.
The Evergreen Point Bridge

(Highway 520), the longest floating bridge in the world
(12,596 ft.), also connects Seattle with Bellevue across
Lake Washington. The rural and scenic Hood Canal Bridge
crosses Puget Sound from the Kitsap Peninsula to the
Olympic Peninsula. Beautiful island, water, and mountain
vistas surround these bridges.
LaConner Bridge

Montlake Bridge

This is a scenic European-looking drawbridge in Seattle.
Vantage Bridge

This dramatic span bridge crosses the Columbia River and
is set in the rural, barren landscape of eastern
Washington, just east of Ellensburg.
Grays River Covered Bridge

This historic, restored, wooden covered bridge in a
pastoral setting is located west of Cathlamet, near the
mouth of the Columbia River.
Pasco-Kennewick Intercity Bridge

It is one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in the country.
It is the only one in the Pacific Northwest.
