Tacoma is Washington's third largest city located 30 miles south of Seattle
on the Puget Sound. The city is situated on a hillside with city streets
"stair-stepping" down to a working waterfront below. Streets are lined
with several old and historic buildings. The main industries are forest
products and shipping.
Tacoma is an excellent film location due to its architectural and
geographical diversity and government/community cooperation. It has
been the location for numerous productions. This city has a wide variety
of All-American neighborhoods from vintage 1890s with excellent Victorians
to modern day suburban looks. Numerous mansion and estate-type homes are
located in the historic Stadium-Seminary district and in the Lakewood
area. A downscale in-city look can be found as well as an excellent New
England look. A New England-style campus can be found at the University
of Puget Sound.
