State Location Directory : Waterfalls

Washington State has HUNDREDS of waterfalls. The waterfalls come in all shapes and sizes. Here are just a sampling:

Clear Creek Falls

Located 2.5 miles east of White Pass on Highway 12. These falls offer a grand view of a spectacular 300 ft. plunge.

Dry Falls

Located north of Ephrata. It was the largest waterfall ever known to exist. It was once a 417 ft. waterfall, 3 miles wide, 40-50 times larger than Niagara Falls, but it no longer carries any water. It is still a spectacular sight; it is a dry, barren landscape of dramatic mystery.

Maryman Falls

You can drive to within 20 feet of the base of the waterfalls.

Nooksack Falls

Located near Glacier, east of Bellingham. This is an explosive 170-ft. waterfall.

Palouse Falls

Located on the Palouse River, north of Walla Walla. These 185 ft. falls are in the midst of barren surroundings. It is accessible by road up to a view- point only.

Rocky Brook Falls

Located south of Quilcene, off Highway 101. These falls drop 100 to 125 feet.

Snoqualmie Falls

Located 20 miles east of Seattle. These falls, at 268 feet, are 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls. At the top of the falls is the first hydro-electric facility built in Washington. A visitor overlook is at the top; the bottom of the falls is accessible by trail.

Staircase Falls

Located at the Hoodsport entrance to Olympic National Park. These falls are some of the most scenic water pools and cascades in the state.

Summer Falls

Located south of Coulee City. The falls operate only during the summer to distribute irrigation water from Coulee Dam. It is accessible for filming from within a few yards of the base of the falls.

Sunset Falls

Located on the Skykomish River, east of Seattle. This is a 60 ft. to 100 ft. roaring cascade and is accessible by road.

Wynooche Falls

Located on the Wynooche River, near Montesano. These 80 ft. falls are probably the most beautiful of all waterfalls in the state offering natural beauty with all types of greenery.
