Pre-production Checklist

Call the Washington State Film Office at (206) 256-6151, and we can provide:

  • The name, phone number, and e-mail address of the Washington State Film Office representative assigned to your project.
  • Send your script to the Washington State Film Office for script breakdown and location recommendations. This will allow us to customize our work for you and save you time. Don't forget to give us the deadline date for receipt of location photos.
  • A complete production packet, including the most current Northwest Production Index.
  • Federal/State and County Parks and Forest Service Permit Contacts.
  • A Network of Film Liaisons statewide.
  • Hotel rates, production office space, local crew and casting information.
  • Availability of building spaces.
  • Job Hotline access for crew and talent needs.
  • All weather related information.

If filming in Seattle, contact James Keblas at (206) 684-5030 or at Chris Swenson, (206) 733.9245 at the Seattle Film Office for the following information:

  • City Of Seattle Permit information.
  • Police, fire, parks, and other city departmental assistance.

File early for the following financial incentives and permits in Washington:

  • Hotel/Motel Tax Exemption.
  • Sales Tax Exemption on the rental of film-related equipment.
  • Minor Work Permits if needed.

Important Reminders:

  • File the Master Business License Application with the Washington State Department Of Licensing.
  • If you are considering filming in an environmentally sensitive area, your first call should be to the Governor's Office of Regulatory Assistance.
